Just another quick Microsoft Office tip for you Mac users I was just making a chart in Excel 2008 and it took me awhile to figure out how to add a label to the Y-axis. From there, simply click on the chart of interest to highlight it and look at “Titles” in the “Chart Options” subsection.

Course Transcript - When you create a chart in Excel, as I've done recently on this worksheet, it's called Profits, you're likely to see a legend along the right-hand side but no title. And titles in charts can occur across the top of a chart, down the left-hand side, below the chart, sometimes you want all three, sometimes only a couple.
You can add titles in a number of different ways. A lot of fine-tuning features allowing you to control elements of a chart, occur on the Chart Layout tab. This is a contextual tab. It's only visible when a chart is selected. If I click outside the chart, we don't see the Chart Layout tab.
Click this chart, here's Chart Layout. And certainly one of the choices to explore is Chart Title. Now there could be faster ways but this gives us some options. It's got a drop arrow. No Chart Title, Title Above Chart.

If you are using Excel 2010/2007, you can insert the axis label into the chart with following steps: 1. Select the chart that you want to add axis label. Navigate to Chart Tools Layout tab, and then click Axis Titles, see screenshot: 3.
